Rejoicing Over An Outpouring Of Revival

The dear brother who serves as the editor of the Shona Herald in Zimbabwe recently sent us these wonderful reports of revival in the congregation he pastors:

April 28, 2024 – “‘Joy to the world….’  The Holy Spirit has fallen again on our church.  We are so humbled that God has visited us, such a small, despised and looked-down upon congregation at such a time as this.  Our dear Heavenly Father has poured His glory on us again, like on the day of Pentecost, in answer to our cry since the beginning of the year (in January we fasted for 21 days for God to revive us again).

“Last Sunday and yesterday suddenly something happened.  The spirit of prayer, praise and joy in the Lord was so saturating and powerfully impacting, leaving us with no doubt that surely God has come and taken control.  The praise, the joy, the laughter was so sobering and amazing, considering what we are going through economically.

“I could not preach through my sermon.  I was so overwhelmed by the love of God and of my sins, such that I was swept over my feet, and broke down and started weeping in the pulpit.  The Holy Spirit just took over and I lost all control.  I felt the liquid love of God dripping down into my whole being in such a way that I found myself weeping like a school boy.  Like Jeremiah, it was like fire in my bones.  The whole congregation joined in.  Each and everyone of us was repenting and crying before God with tears and groanings.  I had no doubt that this was God at work in our hearts.

“Then all of a sudden, the spirit of praise exploded in our midst and suddenly the weeping and mourning was turned into joy and laughter.  I could feel that people were liberated and free.  The truth and love of God had set His people free.  Worship was by default.

“As we closed our service, no one wanted to go home.  They just wanted to linger around, praying and praising God together.  I could see people hugging each other and crying together over each other’s shoulders in love of one another.  Then the following was dropped into my mind:  ‘One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek:  that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple’ (Psa. 27:4).

“O glory be His holy name!  It was humbling that the Holy Ghost has, in a galaxy of churches and congregations, also located and visited us.  It is my prayer that it shall be so also in your churches.  All for His Kingdom and glory, Amen.”

May 19, 2024 – “Thank God we are still swimming and flowing in His presence and glory.  Tears of repentance and joy are still flowing down our cheeks.  God has arisen and so shined in our church such that man’s words cannot explain and articulate it in any way.  The only word we can say is ‘Thank You, Lord!’  Our worship services are being disturbed by the Holy Spirit of God in a mighty way.  Sometimes when flesh creeps up in me to ‘doctrinally’ control things, God has rebuked me with these words.  ‘You invited Me to come, please now allow Me to take control….’

“The love of God has been poured into our hearts in such a way that forgiveness of one another is not a hard thing to exercise.  The peace and joy of the Lord is our strength.  In fact let me say, everything the Lord is doing brings tears to our eyes.  Fellowship is so sweet, satisfying and so fulfilling that after our services people linger around in groups hugging and praying together.  When you enter the church hall, there is a solemn spirit of prayer which engulfs your hearts.

“Last week, we went for five days fasting, praying and crying to God, that our dear God would keep His hand of revival on us.  And surely He is doing that.  Revival comes as a result of broken hearts praying.  Surely a broken and contrite spirit God will not refuse.  He will answer.  God has revealed it to us that if you are serious with Him, if you humble yourself, pray and seek His face, surely He will be found of you.  He who called (and promised) us is faithful and will do it.

“Pray for us as a nation.  The government has declared a national disaster.  This year there were no rains and nothing came from our fields.  There is going to be a terrible hunger.”
