A Call To And Prayer For Repentance

"If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and heal their land" (2 Chr. 7:14).

In Washington, D.C. this past May during the National Day of Prayer, Glenn Sheppard led in a prayer of repentance. We invite you to take this prayer to heart and offer your own cry of repentance for the U.S.A. or for your own nation.

    "O God we repent…
…for fearing people more than reverencing You!
…for choosing to respond to the voice of the masses instead of obeying the mandates of Scripture!
…for building our barns of wealth at the expense of godly obedience to biblical stewardship!
…for choosing to be and speak politically correct at the expense of silencing biblical truth!
…for covering our bodies in the robes of popular fashions rather than the robes of righteousness!
…for embracing half-truths and obvious lies of the devil and ignoring Your Word that calls unrighteous living for what it is: sin!
…for the innocent lives of millions of unborn children who were aborted under the banner of personal choice!
…for removing Your Word and Your name from the halls of government, the courtrooms of our cities and the halls of education in America!
…for selling out to the American dream instead of surrendering to the way of the Cross!
…for being known more for our political opinions than our Christlike living!
…for operating in a spirit of selfish competition in our government, with our business partners and especially in Your body, the church!
…for embracing styles of entertainment that dull our spiritual senses and open each new generation to greater moral deprivation!
…for exalting the ungodly and ignoring the godly!
…for loving ourselves, our ways, our conveniences and our philosophies far more than we love You!

For these and a multitude of other sins far too numerous to count we humbly bow this day and ask for Your mercy, grace and forgiveness! Please hear our prayers, O God, and heal our nation. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior we pray. Amen."
