When God Seems Deaf

If God seems deaf to your prayers, check up on yourself, for God does not promise an answer –

When you are holding a grudge (Matt. 18:21-35; Jas. 5:9).

When you do not forgive (Matt. 6:9-15; Mark 11:22-26).

When you do not apologize for your faults or sins (Matt. 18:15; Matt. 5:21-24; Matt. 7:12).

When you are not making every possible effort to pay your debts (Rom. 13:8; Lev. 19:13; Psa. 37:21; Matt. 7:12).

When you do not make your wrongs right, and restore that which you have wrongfully taken (Luke 19:8).

When you are not kind and gentle to all, even your enemies (Matt. 5:44-48).

When you are indulging in any known sin (Psa. 66:18; Isa. 1:15-20; Isa. 55:6-8; Mark. 1:14-15).

When you yield to temptation (Jas. 1:2-15; Acts 14:22; Matt. 13:1-23; Matt. 5:27-30; Jas. 4:1-12).

When you are jealous and critical (Isa. 58:9; Eph. 4:30-32; John 15:12,17; Gal. 5:13-26; Rom. 12:9-21).

Disobedience to God makes Him deaf to our prayers (Isa. 59:1-3). However, repentance and confession of sin on our part will cause Him to open His ears and His heart to us in the most gracious manner, and enable us to claim over three thousand wonderful promises in the Bible (John 6:37; Rom. 2:4; 1 John 1:5-9; 1 John 2:1-6; 1 John 3:18-24).
