O For A Mighty Revival!
By W. C. Moore
The main need today is to pray for a mighty, sin-convicting, Holy Ghost revival! There is so little deep, lasting Holy Ghost conviction on sin! Yet on the Day of Pentecost, and in the mighty revivals that have followed down through the centuries – conviction on sin, among both professing Christians and out-and-out sinners, has been one of the outstanding features of the genuine move of the Holy Spirit of God among the people.
O the need of utter desperation! Not just playing church, not fiddling while Rome burns, but something to stir God’s own people from slothful ease and idleness and spiritual pride, and from laziness and utter lack of vision!
Woe to Them That Are at Ease in Zion! (Amos 6:1)
Let us pray earnestly one for another that we be not among those who have God’s terrible woe pronounced upon us because we are at ease right in Zion, right while we are warming the benches in some church and have our names on the church membership roll! Read God’s own pronouncement in Amos 6:1-7.
And let us intercede one for another that, by God’s grace, watching unto prayer, we be not among those lukewarm church people "neither cold nor hot," and thinking that we "have need of nothing" – not knowing that we are "wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked" and are ready to be spewed out of the mouth of God unless we do as Jesus the Son of God, the Head of the Church, says in Revelation 3:19: "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent."
Remember the awful warning of the danger of being spewed out is to the lukewarm and self-satisfied people in the church of the Laodiceans (Rev. 3:14-19)! Read also Revelation 3:20-22.
May God help us to be ready for the coming of the Lord (Matt. 24:44), and to "occupy" – keep busy in His will and in His service till He come! (Luke 19:13).
