The Victorious Life
Oswald J. Smith writes: "Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Victor, and are you living a victorious Christian life? In 1 Corinthians 15:57 we read these words: ‘Thanks be unto God which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.’ Are you a victor?
"The saddest experience in the Christian life is the presence and power of sin. To be on the mountain top today and down in the valley tomorrow, to be in the eighth chapter of Romans today and back in the seventh chapter tomorrow, to be in the ‘Promised Land’ today and then back in the wilderness again tomorrow, to be up today and down tomorrow – that, I say, is the saddest experience in the Christian life that I know anything about.
"God has said in unmistakable words, ‘Sin shall not have dominion over you’ (Rom. 6:14). When Paul comes to the end of that terrible seventh chapter of Romans and cries out in the anguish of his soul, ‘O wretched man that I am! Who shall deliver me…?’ the answer comes as though spoken by a voice from Heaven: ‘I thank God…Jesus Christ our Lord’ (Rom. 7:24-25). Victory is possible through the Lord Jesus Christ!"
