Not Too Late To Turn The Tide

By John Meldau

A tide of evil has set in, and many are frightened. The forces of righteousness seem often to be paralyzed. But the teaching, preaching and living of righteousness, according to faith in the power of the living and holy God, can change the present course of history and stem the tide of certain disaster!

Someone who has analyzed the situation says that modern man is turning from the authority of the Bible to human authority. Man no longer asks, what is God’s will? They ask, what do I think is best for me?

The center of authority is being shifted from God to man, and this evil trend will come to fruition in the coming man of sin (2 Thes. 2:3; Rev. 13), who as the ultimate apostate will take the world away from God and Christ, to the worship of the image of the beast (Rev. 13:12-18).

But as long as we are still in the Age of Grace, the true Church (all true, Bible-believing, Bible-practicing Christians) has a duty to witness against the moral corruption of our day, and by life, prayers, and teaching uphold the authority and commands of the Bible.

God Has Reserved Unto Himself a Remnant

God has a believing, God-fearing “Assembly of Called-out Ones” (Ecclesia – Church), who do fear the Lord and who want their lives to be guided by His precious Word. So we boldly say:

All is not yet lost! There are in this country tens of thousands of earnest Christians, old and young, men and women, who will not bow the knee to the modern Baal of lust, and who consider it their duty to practice self-control, and who seek with all their hearts to keep their minds as well as their bodies pure, set apart for God and His service! They respect His commands, and seek to avoid all moral evils.

If these Fundamental believers will follow the Lord wholly, and keep themselves from the sins of this age, God will answer their prayers and do a mighty work yet, even though we must be very near to the coming of the Lord!

It is important to know that though God judges nations according to their evil deeds, He also hears the prayers of His separated people, even though they be few in number – as long as they, as the salt of the earth, have not lost their savor (saltiness, pungency, that is, they are living in accordance with the Word of God, of which salt is a symbol).

“Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men” (Matt. 5:13).

Let us pray for a revival of God’s true people, and pray that God will strengthen the hands of all true Christians who are seeking today to live and work for their Lord, and for the salvation of souls.

Let Us “Dig Ditches” of Expectancy, Depending on His Promises!

“Thus saith the Lord, Make this valley full of ditches. For thus saith the Lord…that valley shall be filled with water” (2 Kgs. 3:16-17).

We realize that we are near the coming of the Lord, and the final apostasy that will develop into the Great Tribulation, and reign of Antichrist (see Second Timothy 3:1-13; Revelation 13:1-18; Second Thessalonians 2:1-12).

But as God gave respite, and revival, under God-fearing kings, before the final deportation to Babylon, so today, He can and will give temporary respite IF the people of God confess and forsake their sins, and lay hold of His promises – for blessings for both the Church and the nation, and also for His missionary program the world over. Rejoice that we still are in the Age of Grace, though the shadows are darkening by the day.

Judgment, the Only Alternative

If the remnant of God’s people does not repent, and confess, as did Daniel of old (see Daniel 9:3-19), their own sins, and the sins of the nation, certain judgment will fall!

“Take this cup of the wine of wrath at My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee to drink it. And they shall drink, and reel to and fro, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them” (Jer. 25:15-16).
