Protection And Deliverance Through The Blood
By William B. Young
The black cloud of death hung over Egypt as stated in the twelfth chapter of Exodus. Judgment would fall on those homes which rejected God’s laws. Their rebellion against Him would not be tolerated. God is a loving God and He is also a just God. Sin must be punished. It must be judged.
There was a wonderful provision made for those who obeyed Him, “For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the Lord. And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt” (12:12-13).
To what blood was the Lord referring? It was the blood of the Passover lamb which they were to “take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses…” (Ex. 12:7).
We are not helpless victims of the serpent’s bite. God’s redemptive plan began at the moment of need. There is a way, thank God, a blood-sprinkled way that will salvage our homes from the clutches of the Devil, free us from worldly entanglements and restore our homes to the holy moral principles of Christ. That kind of a home will have Divine protection. God will place a hedge around the blood-sprinkled homes.
These blood-sprinkled homes went to great length to prepare the way for God’s type of a home. In the Old Testament economy, the children of Israel were commanded to search their houses for leaven (a type of sin). The search was thorough (Ex. 12:15,19). God’s concern was great that there be no leaven in their homes, none whatsoever. Even after the search was made in every crack and cranny of the house, if no leaven was found, a wonderful provision was made for them. They were to offer an offering for the sins of ignorance for the leaven that might possibly have been overlooked. See Leviticus 4:2,14,20.
Declare War on Sins in Our Homes
That is what this leaven search amounted to in essence. God does not want a partial effort to dislodge sins and Satanic inroads in our homes. It must be an all-out war against the sins in our homes. Not that it is against the sinners in our homes, but the sins. The Word says, “We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” (Eph. 6:12).
These forces are the real trouble-makers and in the battle against them, we need the Blood of Jesus in order to prevail. Satan was defeated on the Cross of Calvary, where the Blood of the Lord Jesus was shed.
No Home is Hopeless
Do not be discouraged by what you face by way of entrenched leaven or sin that is entertained by one or more family members who live in the home and are comfortable with evil practices. Remember you have a wonderful Guide, Leader, Teacher, Empowerer, Anointer and One alongside to help (paraclete), the Holy Spirit. Jesus sent Him to this earth to be with you in every area of your need. He will give you the wisdom, grace, love, patience, courage and power to declare war, not on family members, but on the entrenched sin and on Satan who is responsible for its entrenchment.
Take comfort in Isaiah 59:19, “When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” That standard, I sincerely believe, is the Blood of Jesus. Do as a dear friend of ours did concerning the spiritual needs of her family. She claimed and rested on Isaiah 54:13: “All thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children.”
The blood applied on the homes in Egypt made the difference between tragedy and triumph. The Blood of Jesus applied on our homes today, applied by faith, will check the ravages of Satan and will rescue the perishing who are in your home but not saved. The Blood of Jesus is just as powerful today as it was the day it was shed on Calvary’s Cross.
You can saturate your home with His precious Blood. Put Scriptural mottos on your walls that speak of His Blood. Sing songs about the Blood. Memorize Scripture pertaining to the Blood of Jesus. Encourage family members who are one with you in Christ to do the same. The Blood is a mighty deterrent to the forces of hell who specialize in wrecking homes.
Will you pray this simple prayer with me: “Dear Lord Jesus, I thank You for shedding Your Blood on Calvary to redeem all who would come to You for salvation. I thank you that the Blood cleanses and I ask that it will cleanse my home and my entire family. By faith I now cover my home with Your precious Blood and thank you for working in every area of need in my home. In Your Name, Amen.”
