Is Christ ALL To You?
By W. C. Moore
Have You Crowned Jesus, The Son Of God, As King Of Your Life? "The Chiefest Among Ten Thousand" (Song 5:10)
When you have a "day off" – from work – do you, first and foremost – begin to think of the grand privilege of waiting on the Lord, getting alone with Him, seeking His guidance, His blessing, His instructions?
Do you prefer Him above your chief joy?
Do you tell Him first about your joys, your sorrows, your hopes, your fears, your losses, your failures, your longings, your heart's deepest desires?
When you receive some unexpected money – do you immediately tell the Lord all about it, and ask Him how He would have you use it? Or do you begin to think about what you need, what you would like to have?
Do you love Jesus more than you love yourself? (Matt. 16:24)
Is your love and devotion to Christ first in your life – more than your love for father and mother, children, home, friends, associates, wife, husband – above ALL? (Col 1:18; Matt. 6:24; 10:37-38; Luke 14:20-27, 33).
Are you glad for everyone to know that you love Jesus – or are you ashamed of Him, and of His words? (Mark 8:34-38).
Do you delight to do God's will? (Psa. 40:8).
If you discover that something as dear to you as your right eye is nevertheless causing you to fail God in any way or to the least extent – do you pluck that thing out instantly, and cast it from you? (Matt. 5:27-29).
If someone, apparently as necessary to you as your right hand, is causing you to miss God's best for your life – do you immediately break off that association, and cast it from you? (Matt. 5:30).
Are You Walking Faithfully in All the Light God Has Given You? (John 12:35-36)
The real test of love to God is obedience from the heart to His words! "If a man love Me," Jesus says, "he will keep My words" (John 14:23).
If you find yourself weak in the presence of temptation, do you excuse yourself, or blame other people – or do you instantly come to the Lord, who is touched with the feeling of our infirmities (Heb. 4:15), and who, having suffered, being tempted, is able to succor them that are tempted (Heb. 2:18) – and who invites us to come to Him? (Matt. 11:28-30).
Is Christ Really ALL to You?
Or do you have some close friend who comes first?
Do you have some "hobby" that you are more interested in than having fellowship with the Lord Jesus?
Or have you permitted yourself to make an idol out of your child? Your wife? Your husband? Your church? Your reputation? Some secret sin? Bondage and fear as to "what the people think"?
"Little children, keep yourselves from idols" (1 John 5:21).
"Cleanse Thou me from secret faults" (Psa. 19:12).
"Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts; and see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting" (Psa. 139:24).
