Living In “The Blessed Hope”

By Jack L. Mitchell

“The Blessed Hope” lays many demands upon the children of God. It requires that:

We must worship with devotedness! “For as often as ye eat this bread and drink this cup, ye do show forth the Lord’s death til He come” (1 Cor. 11:26).

We must work with diligence! “He called His ten servants unto Him and delivered them ten pounds and said unto them, Occupy till I come” (Luke 19:13).

We must wait with dignity! “Be patient, therefore, brethren unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts; for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh” (Jas. 5:7-8).

We must witness with doggedness! “That which ye have already, hold fast till I come” (Rev. 2:25).

We must walk with discretion! “…Walk honestly toward them that are without that ye may have lack of nothing…for the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout…” (1 Thes. 4:12-16).
