Be Strong In The Lord

By Rich Carmicheal

This issue of Herald of His Coming focuses on spiritual warfare, a theme that is all the more critical in these last days.  In the article about spiritual armor printed on pages 3 and 4, Derek Prince shares a truth that bears special emphasis:  “I believe Christians are the most significant people in the earth because we alone have the weapons needed to do the job.  That fact makes us more significant and influential than political rulers, military commanders, scientists or other such people who may be very effective in their particular realm but they do not have the spiritual tools or equipment to do the job.  We alone are equipped.”

Our calling as God’s people is indeed a vital one.  We are the ones who understand the spiritual battle that is going on for the souls of mankind.  We are the ones who know that Christ is the One that those around us need.  We know that the devil is a thief who comes to steal, kill and destroy, but that Jesus is a giver of life – abundant life! (John 10:10).  We know that He came to “destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8) and to “heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and…to set at liberty those who are oppressed” (Luke 4:18).  We know that in Him alone is salvation and peace and hope.  We know the power of His death on the Cross, the power of His blood and the power of His resurrection.  We know the power of His Word which is “living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit…” (Heb. 4:12).  We know of His unlimited power that is available as we turn to Him in prayer – that all things are possible with God!

In light of the great needs all around us, whether the needs of individuals, families or nations, this is the hour for us to “be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might” (Eph. 6:10).  This is the time for God’s people to rise to the occasion and share the life, the light and the salvation of the Lord.  The prayer of the Herald staff is that the Lord will work through the messages in this issue to encourage, strengthen and further equip you in your own spiritual life and also in your ministry to others.  If you are in need of spiritual victory, we pray the Lord will minister to you powerfully through these messages and bring you into His victory and fullness.  May He draw all of us into greater revelation of His Person and His work, and into greater fellowship with Him and fruitful ministry for His glory!
