Fellow Workers For The Truth
By Lois J. Stucky (1928 – 2014)
Think a few moments on just one phase of our exalted Lord’s being – on Christ as the truth. On one occasion Jesus declared Himself as “the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6). The Apostle John declared Jesus as “full of grace and truth” and he further writes that “grace and truth came through Jesus Christ” (John 1:14, 17).
Many in today’s society declare there are no absolute truths. But how blessed are we who fully believe that the absolute truth is found in Jesus, the living Word, and that it is recorded in the written Word, the Bible.
We who have received Christ Jesus the Lord are to “walk…in Him: rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith” (Col. 2:6-7). Bless God, we walk not in darkness and deception but in the light and in truth and in love! We walk by faith and by the Spirit, and by the Word.
Our blessed Jesus who was truth Himself, was valiant for the truth, giving His life at great cost for its fulfillment. Today there are dear saints of God who are valiant for the truth, hazarding their lives as they share the truth of Christ and His Word. Pray for these soldier-saints throughout the world who endure hardships in order to spread the message dear to their hearts.
Some standing in pulpits must face people who do not want to hear sound doctrine. Let us pray that they will nevertheless preach God’s Word with Holy Spirit boldness. Ask God to endue His preachers with patience and wisdom that is from above, gentle, full of mercy, without partiality and without hypocrisy (Jas. 3:17).
Let’s be encouraged to continue on as “fellow workers for the truth” (3 John 8). The Lord’s work grows more urgent day by day! Jesus said, “Surely I am coming quickly” (Rev. 22:20).
